The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is a story, set against the historical backdrop of one civilization’s efforts to save their town from being overrun by the invading Turks, that chronicles the travels of Baron von Muchausen (John Neville) and Sally Salt (Sarah Polley). This unlikely pair, an ancient aristocrat and sweet little girl, meet up with other kooky characters as they travel through time and space. They have many adventures—everything from going to the moon to grappling with an Eastern sultan to being eaten by a sea monster—all while trying to escape the terrifying specter of the Grim Reaper. This story blurs the line between fantasy and reality, leaving even the characters themselves unsure about what is real and what might be imagined.
